Information for Recruiters
Over the past few years, I have had e-mails and phone calls
from many recruiters and professional staffers at companies
across the midwest. In general, they ask the same questions
and want the same types of information. So I decided to
compile them in one location so that they can be addressed
prior to their contacting me.
Where do you currently work and what do you do?
I currently work for Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. as
their Webmaster and primary Internet developer. I am
primarily responsible for building, expanding, and
maintining their corporate web presence which currently consists of seventeen distinct web sites.
Additionally, I adminster and develop for their Lotus Notes infrastructure.
Are you hoping to make a change?
I can sum this up in one simple statement. I love my job! I get to work with
great people and am not confined to a computer screen all the time. I have a
wide variety of tasks and responsibilities so I don't find myself doing the same
thing all day every day. Although I am not activly seeking a change,
I am open to hearing about other oportunities. However, given what I've just
said, the oportunity would have to be something that I couldn't turn down.
Additionally, the most important thing to me in considering any position is the
location. I want to stay in Lincoln. While convincing me to move elsewhere is
possible, it will likely take more money than anyone is willing to offer. (Ever
heard the term "King's Ransom"?)
What kind of a position would you consider?
While it is true that I have a wide variety of skills, some of those skills
are more refined than others. I don't think I'll ever be interested in a
"pure" programming role or in any role that has me doing any one thing all
the time. I prefer doing Internet development to that of Lotus Notes/Domino
activities, but understand that those skills make me more valuable to any
employer, so I'd like to keep them in practice.
Would it be ok if I check in with you from time to time?
Absolutely! You never know when a situation might come up or a person's
wishes might change. At the very least, I love to talk to people.
